    Unfortunately this startup ran out of runway and did not find PMF for the original vision. Its goal was to create trusted and highly *personalized* product recommendations rather than the generic recs typically pushed by review sites that use affiliate links.

    • Collaborated consumer electronics product experts to define product/customer segments, and create ground-truth personalized recommendations datasets
    • Created ML ranking models to reproduce and generalize experts' recommendations
    • Participated in hiring for 3 roles, interviewed dozens of candidates

    • OI signed me on a 1-year contract to run the data infrastructure behind their Economic Tracker project, as well as other initiatives as needed.
    • I improved and rewrote crucial data processing code using modern tools like Apache Spark, achieving massive speedups and efficiencies.
    • Optimized their cloud infrastructure (AWS) to keep costs down.
