  • BOXEE (acquired by Samsung)

BOXEE was a one-of-a-kind cord-cutting streamer device and streaming OS that set the tone for everything that came after. The company was based in NYC and Tel Aviv. (Samsung acquired BOXEE in 2013)

I joined the team as a Senior Product Manager, and after leading product for a few iterations of the software on the Gen 1 device (including the associated phone and tablet apps), I led product for the second generation device "BOXEE TV with Cloud DVR." The goal for the second device was to shift away from an early-adopter customer profile to a mass market product available on the shelves of big box stores like Walmart and Best Buy. This required a rethink of the end-to-end product, which was overly complex, catering to the finicky needs of super early adopter/techie customers, in both the design of the interface as well as the hardware device itself.

Despite Hurricane Sandy nearly crippling NYC where our main office was located, we hit an impossible deadline to make it in time for holiday shelf stocking at the big box stores, and sold nearly a million units before Samsung Electronics acquired us (they wanted the Cloud DVR in their smart TV line)

  • SPACIOUS (acquired by WeWork)

Joined SPACIOUS as Chief Product Officer as the first wave of non-founder hires, turning a rough working prototype into a robust platform that supported the growth of our unique subscription-based network of drop-in workspaces in underutilized street level retail in NYC and SF Bay area. WeWork acquired us and the hard work of our team is currently what you see when you browse and book drop-in workspace in the WeWork app.

SPACIOUS was a hybrid of a marketplace, and a facility management platform with a consumer-facing mobile app (iOS & Android), and in-space POS app (iOS tablet), a website/web-app, a customer CRM (used by our hospitality staff) and a CMS to manage the retail locations.

We secured VC funding from Baseline Ventures, August Capital, Redpoint, Lerer Hippeau, Metaprop, Box Group
