Fractional IT Administrator
Job Description
Position Overview
Stathletes is seeking an experienced Fractional IT Administrator to take ownership of our day-to-day IT infrastructure and technology operations. This is a part-time, flexible contract role ideal for someone who enjoys maintaining and improving existing systems while providing occasional support to employees and leadership.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary owner of our internal IT environment, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable, and well-maintained.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain approximately 150 Windows workstations and laptops
- Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services
- Maintain and monitor physical and virtual servers
- Manage user accounts, permissions, onboarding, and offboarding processes
- Oversee Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and related cloud services
- Manage endpoint security, antivirus, patching, and software deployment
- Coordinate hardware procurement, inventory, and lifecycle management
- Troubleshoot workstation, network, VPN, and connectivity issues
- Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures
- Monitor system health and proactively identify potential issues
- Document infrastructure, procedures, and best practices
- Work with internal engineering teams and external vendors as needed
- Provide occasional after-hours support for critical issues
- Manage and maintain on-premises infrastructure including servers, storage, networking equipment, virtualization platforms, and related hardware
- Plan and execute infrastructure migrations between cloud and on-premises environments as business needs evolve
- Coordinate hardware lifecycle management, capacity planning, and infrastructure upgrades
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience administering Windows-based IT environments
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft 365
- Experience supporting remote and hybrid workforces
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V or VMware
- Experience managing networking equipment, VPNs, and firewalls
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of systems
- Experience administering physical server infrastructure, storage systems, and virtualization platforms
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud/on-premises environments and infrastructure migration projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Google Workspace administration
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or DigitalOcean
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices
- Experience supporting software development or technology companies
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery planning
Compensation
Compensation for this role is expected to be in the range of $100 to $150 per hour CAD, depending on experience, availability, scope of responsibility, and whether work is performed remotely or on-site.
Higher hourly rates may be considered for candidates with deep experience managing hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration, server virtualization, infrastructure migrations, vendor management, and after-hours incident support.
Engagement Details
- Flexible part-time engagement
- Expected commitment: approximately 10-20 hours per month, with additional hours as needed for projects or incidents
- Contract / fractional arrangement
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who can act as the owner of our IT environment - not just react to problems when they arise. The ideal candidate will proactively maintain systems, improve processes, keep documentation current, and ensure our infrastructure continues to scale as the company grows.
This role will also be responsible for managing relationships with key technology vendors and platforms, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, VPN providers, endpoint protection solutions, backup systems, and other core IT services.
