Fractional VP of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the first-time CTO to improve decision-making processes across various domains, including hiring strategy, architectural decisions, team structure, and prioritization.
• Manage and own workstreams involving compliance, security, IT, and vendor management.
• Develop and implement effective hiring processes to build a robust engineering team.
• Lead and execute cross-functional projects, ensuring seamless collaboration across departments.
• Mentor and guide the CTO, leveraging your experience to provide insights and best practices.
• Take proactive ownership of key initiatives and drive them from inception to completion.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CTO or VP of Engineering at a similar stage B2B SaaS company, ideally through the $3M-$15M ARR scaling phase.
• Strong decision-making skills with the ability to develop scalable engineering and product strategies.
• Hands-on experience in establishing processes and executing workstreams rather than solely providing advice.
• Expertise in building effective hiring processes and leading engineering teams.
• Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills to manage projects involving compliance, security, and IT.
• Ability to mentor and develop leadership skills in a first-time CTO.
• US-based, with East Coast preference for optimal timezone overlap.
