OpenMined
OpenMined is a non-profit on a mission to help AI researchers understand and predict AI's impact on society. We do this by building AI governance infrastructure using privacy enhancing technologies that helps researchers access AI systems and datasets — to study AI's impact on the world.

I served in numerous team lead roles, most prominently as the Head of Engineering at OpenMined. In this capacity, I led 80 data scientists, software developers, and cryptographers to develop academic-based, open-source technologies for privacy preserving data science.

- Managed a 5-person engineering team to develop a Next.js and Typescript web application and API using the Stripe, Plaid, Mailchimp, Alpaca, and Twilio APIs.
- Selected from hundreds of applications to participate in the Rise startup accelerator, created by Barclays, in New York City.
- Deployed a web application helping hundreds of families save over $3 million towards future education expenses.

Meta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses. When Facebook launched in 2004, it changed the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world. Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. My primary work was with Meta subsidiary "Kustomer" who helps businesses grow by delivering exceptional customer service via phone, email, chat, text, social, messaging and more. Kustomer enables fast, personalized, and efficient customer and agent experiences using complete customer visibility, seamless omnichannel conversations, intelligent automation and easy, no-code customization to adapt to change.
- Co-authored an Apps SDK for building third-party applications with Kustomer that securely embeds externally-authored code. Committed over 100k lines of code on this project alone.
- Released 4 production-scale applications for Magento, Klaviyo, Zoom, and Slack using the Apps SDK, one of which closed a backlog of over 30 tickets related to bugs in previous iterations.
- Wrote all public technical documentation for the Apps SDK, created 8 sample apps, and brought test coverage from 54% to over 95%.

Access to non-public data, AIs, and APIs is hard because of concerns like privacy, security, and IP. If you need more access, or you need to offer more access to others, we build free, open-source, privacy enhancing software that can help. OpenMined is a non-profit on a mission to help researchers access the most important information in the world, and use it to answer the most important questions in the world. We do this by building a new kind of web server, PySyft, which can empower one person to use data owned by another to answer a question — without obtaining a copy of the data. We think it's going to lead to 1000x more data in every scientific field.
- Managed 80+ remote software engineers, cryptographers, and data scientists across 15 teams to build open-source privacy-preserving libraries in Python, C/C++, Go, Rust, and Typescript.
- Liaised with external partners (Google, Meta, Microsoft, Twitter, and the University of California) to write grants totaling over $2 million for the purposes of funding internal engineering efforts.
- Architected over 15 libraries for privacy-enhancing technologies such as: Multi-Party Computation, Homomorphic Encryption, Differential Privacy, Federated Learning, Self-Sovereign Identity, Distributed Computing, and Remote Computation.
- Developed the world's first open-source libraries for distributed Federated Learning on web (Javascript), Android (Kotlin), iOS (Swift), and server and IoT (Python).
- Founding member of OpenMined - served in roles primarily related to system development, software design, and community management - ultimately helping to grow the organization to over 14,000 members from over 80 countries.

- Designed and developed the organization’s telehealth software for web (Javascript) and Android (Java).
- Integrated third-party hardware devices like Google Glass and Bluetooth-enabled medical devices to stream health data to a remote clinician in a secure HIPAA-compliant environment.
- Delivered live patient vital signs and multi-source audio/video feeds via WebRTC in a React.js application, coordinating with a horizontally-scaled Redis pub/sub socket server.

- Engineered the entire web application using AngularJS, integrated with a Ruby on Rails API.
- Implemented D3.js and other advanced data visualization tools to create interactive data visualizations describing the American political system.
- Aggregated 5 public datasets on the American political system amassing over 110 million rows of unstructured data on lobbying and campaign finance.
