Spice Kitchen is an award-winning, family-run spice brand founded by mother and son, Shashi and Sanjay Aggarwal.

What started at a market stall is now:

- A nationally distributed gifting brand
- Sold via DTC (Shopify), Amazon, QVC and marketplaces
- Stocked in premium retail (Selfridges, garden centres, independents, food halls)
- A brand with strong storytelling, sustainability credentials and charitable meal donations

We are looking for a commercially minded, strategic marketing leader who can:

- Audit and optimise our entire digital marketing ecosystem
- Bring structure and accountability to agencies and freelancers
- Strengthen DTC performance
- Support retail marketing initiatives
- Mentor and guide our new in-house social media executive
- Build scalable marketing systems

This is not an execution-only role.

This is a strategic, senior-level position.

## Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Digital Strategy & Performance

- Conduct a full audit of our digital channels (Shopify, email, paid ads, organic social, SEO)
- Create a clear 12-month marketing roadmap
- Define KPIs and performance metrics across all channels
- Improve conversion rate, AOV and customer lifetime value
- Review attribution and reporting

2️⃣ Agency & Supplier Management

- Review current agency relationships
- Assess performance and ROI
- Recommend changes where needed
- Manage external marketing partners
- Ensure alignment with commercial objectives

3️⃣ DTC Growth

- Optimise customer acquisition strategy
- Improve paid media performance (Meta, Google etc.)
- Develop email and retention strategy
- Strengthen brand positioning online

4️⃣ Retail & Trade Marketing Support

- Align brand messaging across retail and DTC
- Support key retail launches
- Develop trade marketing materials where needed
- Help connect consumer marketing to retail sell-through

5️⃣ Team Leadership & Mentorship

- Mentor our new Social Media Executive
- Build structure, content planning and reporting systems
- Bring clarity and confidence to the in-house team

## Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

- Has operated at Head of Marketing / Marketing Director level
- Has scaled a £1m–£10m consumer brand
- Understands e-commerce deeply
- Has managed agencies and performance marketing budgets
- Is commercially sharp (not vanity metrics driven)
- Is hands-on but strategic
- Understands gifting / food / FMCG / lifestyle sectors
- Is comfortable in founder-led businesses

## Bonus:

- Experience in omnichannel brands (retail + DTC)
- Experience with Shopify brands
- Experience mentoring junior marketers

## Commitment

- 1–2 days per week equivalent (flexible structure)
- Hybrid (Liverpool preferred but not essential)
- 3–6 month initial contract with potential to extend

Spice Kitchen is an online shop specialising in high quality hand-blended and homeground Indian Spices. We also sell various cookware that can help you to create authentic indian food. We specialise in selling authentic Spice Tins, which are known as 'Masala Dabbas'​ in India. These shiny stainless steel tins contain 7 seperate containers for easy access to the myriad of spices that you will need to create perfectly blended indian dishes and curries.

We source the freshest spices from around the world, handblend, roast and grind them and pack them carefully. We promise you that you will never have smelt spices like them (so much so that they smell outside the packaging!).

All of our items are sourced and quality controlled by a mother and son team, Shashi & Sanjay Aggarwal. Shashi was born in Kenya, grew up in India and has lived in the UK for over 30 years. She has 40+ years of cookery experience and is an oracle when it comes to indian cookery methods and recipes, much to her families benefit. She is renowned for home cooking 12 course indian banquets without breaking a sweat!

We support several charities supporting people in Kenya and India such as FRANK Water & Find Your Feet. We also try to reduce, reuse and recycle where we can, for example all our Spice Tins are packaged in disused boxes from a local greetings card wholesaler.

We love to talk to other passionate cooks and love sharing traditional family recipes that have been passed down through our large family (currently 120 members!), and these recipes can be found on our Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and on our online blog.
