TRAID is a charity retailer on a mission to provide an alternative to buying new clothes. Their vision and mission revolve around reducing the environmental and social impacts of clothing waste. By diverting clothes waste from landfill and incineration, TRAID turns them into funds and resources that support international development projects and improve working practices in the textile industry. They also educate people about the environmental and social impacts of textiles, empowering them to make more sustainable choices. TRAID achieves this through a comprehensive approach that involves increasing clothes reuse, reducing waste and carbon emissions, and supporting local communities and authorities in achieving zero waste. With over 700 charity clothes banks, home collections, and charity shops across the UK, TRAID annually diverts around 3,000 tonnes of clothes from ending up in landfill or being incinerated. The clothes donated to TRAID undergo a meticulous sorting process at their London warehouse, where the team carefully selects stock based on condition, quality, and style. Around 11,000 garments per week are sorted, priced, and merchandised for reuse and resale in their charity shops.
