Acheron PsychiatryPosted Sep 10, 2026

Job Description

Director of Growth (Fractional)

Position Details

  • Location: New York City
  • Type: Part-Time / Fractional
  • Hours: Approximately 8–15 hours per week (with flexibility)

The Opportunity

Acheron has developed a strong clinical team, expanding programs, dedicated internal marketing support, and an outside marketing agency. What we need now is an experienced growth leader who can connect these pieces into a coherent strategy and, importantly, help us build the relationship-driven growth engine that a high-quality clinical practice requires.

This is not primarily a digital marketing or advertising role.

A major focus will be developing sustainable referral relationships with psychiatrists, therapists, physicians, hospitals, schools, treatment programs, professional organizations, and other potential community and clinical partners.

The Director of Growth will work closely with Acheron's founder, leadership team, internal marketing specialist, clinical team, and external marketing partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead Acheron's overall growth strategy, with clear priorities, goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build a structured referral partnership program, including identifying high-value referral sources and developing systems for outreach, follow-up, relationship management, and ongoing engagement.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing referral partners and create a systematic approach to maintaining those relationships.
  • Develop strategies for engaging current and former patients, warm leads, and the broader Acheron community in an ethical and clinically appropriate manner.
  • Identify growth opportunities for Acheron's psychotherapy, psychiatry, KAP, group therapy, neuropsychology, and emerging clinical programs.
  • Help translate new clinical programs and ideas into clear positioning, messaging, launch plans, and sustainable patient acquisition strategies.
  • Provide senior-level direction and mentorship to our internal marketing specialist while helping clarify roles, priorities, and accountability.
  • Coordinate effectively with our external marketing agency and other outside partners.
  • Evaluate our marketing channels and determine where additional investment is likely to generate meaningful returns.
  • Develop practical growth metrics and reporting so leadership can understand what is working and why.
  • Help establish appropriate CRM, referral tracking, and relationship-management processes.
  • Advise leadership on brand strategy, communications, events, partnerships, content, and other growth opportunities.
  • Bring focus and execution discipline to a growing organization with many promising ideas and initiatives.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who combines senior strategic judgment with a willingness to build and execute.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience leading growth, marketing, business development, or referral development for a healthcare, behavioral health, medical, or other relationship-driven professional-services organization.
  • A demonstrated ability to build referral and partnership channels, not simply manage paid advertising or digital marketing.
  • Experience developing growth systems for founder-led or entrepreneurial organizations.
  • Strong understanding of CRM, funnel management, patient/client engagement, and growth analytics.
  • The ability to mentor and develop a talented but relatively junior internal marketing team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort developing relationships with clinicians and other sophisticated professional referral sources.
  • Strong strategic instincts paired with a bias toward implementation.
  • An appreciation for the ethical and reputational considerations involved in marketing mental health services.
  • The ability to prioritize. We have no shortage of ideas; we need someone who can help determine which ones deserve attention and turn the best ones into results.

Experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychedelic medicine, or specialty healthcare is particularly valuable, but we are open to exceptional candidates from adjacent fields.

What Success Could Look Like

During the first 6–12 months, we would expect this person to help Acheron:

  • Establish a functioning referral-partnership and outreach program.
  • Create a reliable system for tracking referral sources and relationships.
  • Deepen engagement with existing professional partners.
  • Develop thoughtful strategies for re-engaging warm leads, former patients, and the broader Acheron community.
  • Improve coordination among leadership, internal marketing, and outside marketing partners.
  • Establish clear growth KPIs and accountability.
  • Identify the highest-potential programs and channels for investment.
  • Produce measurable, sustainable growth in appropriate patient referrals.
