Fractional Finance Director
Job Description
Job Title: Fractional Finance Director / Senior Finance Manager
Location: Hybrid / Remote (with occasional on-site strategy meetings near Richmond / Bedale, North Yorkshire)
Commitment: 1 to 2 days per month (Flexible). This includes core remote/on-site work, with reasonable ad-hoc email queries and short phone updates between sessions included within the day rate.
Status: Self-Employed / B2B Contractor
Rate: £400 per day (+ VAT if registered)
Key Responsibilities
- Team Building & Oversight: Assist the owners in hiring a part-time bookkeeper/administrator. Once in place, you will oversee their day-to-day data entry and implement strict review mechanisms to ensure data is pristine.
- Operations & Stocktake Oversight: Oversee the stocktaking process, overseeing stock-taker to ensure variances are investigated and tightly aligned with Xero records.
- Budget Responsibility: Take full ownership of the overarching finance department budget. You will be responsible for budgeting your own costs alongside any additional costs for bookkeeping, general administration, or stocktaking services.
- Group Structure & Compliance: Design, implement, and maintain a robust group structure ensuring compliance with disaggregation rules across
- Forecasting & FP&A: Build and maintain forward-looking financial models, rolling cash flow forecasts, and capital expenditure tracking.
- Management Accounts: Deliver management accounts and strategic commentary to the owners to assist with commercial decision-making and site performance tracking.
- Statutory Tax & Filing: Prepare, review, and legally submit Quarterly VAT returns, Limited Company Accounts, CT600 forms, and Directors' Self-Assessments.
- Oversee payroll administration by bookkeeper/administrator.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Essential: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified with significant post-qualification experience.
- Sector Expertise: Prior experience in the hospitality / licensed trade sector is strongly preferred. You should understand pub operations, stock management, cash flows, and industry-specific tax nuances.
- Tax Specialist: Technical knowledge of HMRC disaggregation rules, group tax planning, and multi-site corporate structures.
- Advanced Systems: Advanced proficiency in financial modelling/forecasting tools.
- Setup: Must be an established self-employed consultant with relevant professional indemnity insurance.
