Fractional Head of Marketing (CMO)
Job Description
Overview
We are a tech-enabled marketing and managed-services business that has scaled to serve several dozen managed-service clients through recent organizational changes. As leadership transitions, we need a fractional marketing leader to build a repeatable top-of-funnel lead-generation engine to sustain strong growth. This role is fractional (part-time, ~8–12 hours/week with a heavier ramp initially), remote-friendly, starts soon, and will report to the CEO.
Responsibilities
- Define and own a go-to-market and demand-generation strategy to drive predictable lead flow for professional services and tech-enabled services.
- Build and prioritize a channel plan across SEO, content, paid media, social, and partnerships to scale inbound leads.
- Execute and/or coordinate tactical work (or manage offshore/agency partners) to deliver campaigns, paid media, content, and website optimization.
- Audit the current marketing and CRM tech stack and recommend/configure tools (CRM, marketing automation, analytics); experience with common platforms is a plus.
- Create reporting and dashboards to measure funnel performance and ROI; iterate based on data.
- Manage external agencies, freelancers, and lower-cost execution resources; act as the general contractor for marketing execution.
- Produce or oversee key assets (case studies, website pages, social posts, nurture sequences) and ensure a consistent brand voice.
- Support sales handoff and lead qualification processes to maximize conversion from marketing-generated leads.
- Advise on hiring vs. outsourcing as the business scales and provide smooth knowledge transfer as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading marketing for professional services or tech-enabled services (experience in accounting/finance services is a strong plus).
- Demonstrated success in demand generation for B2B services; experience selling into consumer brands/CPG is a plus.
- Hands-on with SEO, paid acquisition, content strategy, and social distribution; comfortable both strategizing and rolling up sleeves.
- Experience managing agencies, offshore teams, and freelance networks to execute cost-efficient marketing.
- Familiarity with CRM/marketing stacks and analytics-driven decision making.
- Comfortable working fractional/part-time (around 8–12 hours/week) and able to ramp quickly; strong opinions on tools and processes.
- Excellent communication skills; able to report directly to the CEO and coordinate with advisors and a small internal team.
