**About the tax practice being launched:**

- **Humane hours -- all year round.** At most firms, tax season is a nightmare: never-ending hours, intense pressure, high stress. This new tax practice is designed to put an end to that. Hours can be capped at a limit you choose -- e.g. 30, 35, 40, or 45 hours per week (depending on your preference). Your workload will match your hours. The belief is that you should have a fulfilling career in tax – without sacrificing your personal life or your sanity.

- **Growth-oriented.** As the tax practice grows, there will be opportunities to grow with it, and potentially take on new roles, including leadership roles, if desired.

## Senior Tax Reviewer & Signer -- Fully Remote, Flexible, Low Hours During Tax Seasons

**Work Arrangement:**
- Fully remote position
- Flexible schedule; work part-time or full-time
- Set your own schedule (aside from availability for meetings)
- Available 9am-11am Eastern Time at least 3 days per week required
- Humane hours year-round with capped weekly hours (30, 35, 40, or 45 hours per week based on preference)

**What you'll do:**

- **Tax returns:**
  - Review returns prepared by the team, sign them under your own PTIN, and own the judgment calls
  - May also prepare some returns yourself, especially in early days
  - Work includes US federal and state returns for small businesses and individuals, especially schedule C and S corp clients
  - Will use Drake for the 2026 tax year (may change in future years)

- **Tax explanation and advice:**
  - Explain returns and positions to clients in plain language
  - Provide planning and advisory where clients need it

- **Other optional functions:**
  - Partner with other leaders to develop processes (client intake, quality review, etc.) and define policies
  - Help screen and train an overseas team for tax prep
  - Join occasional calls with prospective clients as tax expert (accompanying salesperson, no sales quota)
  - Optional add-on roles including management or supervising monthly bookkeeping services

**Reporting:**
- Report directly to the CEO
- Work alongside one other signer initially (more signers planned later)
- Team of preparers to be built out in the near future
- Coordinate with bookkeeping teams as needed

**Core Requirements:**
- Active, unrestricted CPA or EA (US CPA licenses only; current state license is a plus, not required)
- Minimum 5+ years in US tax (10+ years strongly preferred)
- Experience reviewing and signing returns for clients (strictly required)
- Adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and systems
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients with no accounting background
- Fully fluent in English

**Preferred Skills (not required, but a plus):**
- Partner-level experience in a tax firm

**Compensation:**

A few notes about working relationships:

- Active, unrestricted CPA or EA (we're open to either; a current state license is a plus, not a requirement). US CPA licenses only.
  
- Minimum 5+ years in US tax, 10+ years strongly preferred.
  
- Experience reviewing and signing returns for clients (strictly required).
  
- Must be adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and systems.
  
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You should find it easy to build trust and rapport with clients.
  
- Must have the patience to explain complex tax concepts to clients with no accounting background.
  
- Fully fluent in English.
  

  

Not required, but would be a plus:

- Partner-level experience in a tax firm
  
- Familiarity with Drake

This role is NOT a fit for someone who needs a lot of predefined structure, with a clear playbook to follow – this is a new tax practice, and you’ll be part of figuring out how things work. Especially in the early days, we’ll still be building the initial team and processes.
