Master of Social Work Practicum Coordinator
Position Overview: The Master of Social Work (MSW) Program at Colby-Sawyer College invites applications for a part-time (20 hours per week) Coordinator of Practicum Education. This staff position supports the Director of Practicum Education in the coordination, administration, and ongoing strengthening of practicum education within a student-centered, fully online MSW program.
The Coordinator will assist with student placement processes, agency communication, practicum documentation, site supervisor support, virtual site visits, and monitoring of student progress in practicum settings. The role is intended to provide direct support to the Practicum Director and to help ensure that students, agencies, and site supervisors have a clear, organized, and responsive practicum experience.
Start date is January 4, 2027.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the vetting, approval, and ongoing communication with practicum agencies and supervisors.
- Support placement processes, including student matching and completion of required practicum documentation and agency clearances.
- Support the maintenance of practicum manuals, policies, forms, orientation materials, and assessment tools.
- Assist with site instructor orientation and training.
- Support data collection related to practicum placement, student progress, and CSWE competency assessment.
- Participate in virtual site visits and placement check-ins.
- Identify and respond to placement concerns in consultation with the Director of Practicum Education.
- Communicate with students, field instructors, faculty, and advisors regarding practicum-related needs.
- Support the development of new practicum opportunities, particularly in New Hampshire and the Northeast.
- Assist with practicum-related accreditation documentation and continuous quality improvement activities.
- Monitor assigned field placements and communicate with Program Director regarding any disruptions or issues.
- Collaborate with academic advisors and instructors to address academic and professional issues as they relate to student practicum placements.
- Attend weekly program meetings (attendance at monthly departmental and faculty meetings is optional.)
Requirements:
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
- At least two years of post-MSW clinical experience.
- Experience working with placing social work students in practicum/field settings, field supervision, and social work field education.
- Knowledge of behavioral health, medical social work, school social work, child welfare, or other community-based practice settings relevant to MSW education.
Preferred Experience:
- LICSW, LCSW, or equivalent independent clinical social work licensure.
- Experience serving as a site supervisor, practicum liaison, or practicum coordinator within a CSWE-accredited social work program.
- Experience working in an online or hybrid higher education environment.
- Familiarity with online practicum management systems (e.g. Time2Track, Sonia, Tevera).
- Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community agencies and practicum education partners.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize among multiple projects while maintaining strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the social work profession, ethical practice, and anti-racist, anti-oppressive practices.
- Knowledge of the New Hampshire practicum landscape, including community agencies, healthcare systems, schools, and nonprofit organizations that support MSW practicum education.
Work Arrangement: This position is initially structured as a part-time, 20-hour-per-week role. Depending upon student enrollment, practicum placement volume, program need, and institutional approval, the position may be considered for conversion to a full-time.
