Fractional Operations Generalist
Job Description
Overview
The company is an early-stage tech startup building an AI infrastructure platform that improves production deployments for teams building agents — increasing cost efficiency and quality by observing agent behavior, generating test cases, and improving deployments. As a small founding team where founders currently handle most operations, the organization is hiring a trusted generalist operations lead to set up foundational systems and remove day-to-day operational burden.
Responsibilities
- Lead legal operations for incoming customer and vendor contracts: review NDAs and agreements, draft and track redlines, coordinate with external counsel, and flag deal-blocking issues
- Set up and maintain core company systems (bank accounts, payment processes, vendor accounts)
- Serve as the primary operations point of contact for customers and external partners, managing requests and handoffs
- Own ad hoc operational projects tied to fundraising, compliance, and company formation matters
- Build repeatable processes, documentation, and playbooks to reduce founder time spent on routine tasks
- Manage vendor relationships and basic procurement (e.g., legal counsel, payroll providers, SaaS tools)
- Work closely with co‑founders to prioritize tasks, escalate critical issues, and drive initiatives to completion
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an early-stage operations generalist at a tech startup and comfort with high ambiguity and undefined processes
- Strong experience with contract review and legal operations (NDAs, basic commercial terms); comfortable coordinating with external counsel and making pragmatic recommendations
- Hands-on experience setting up bank accounts, payment flows, payroll, and basic HR systems
- Excellent judgment, written and verbal communication, and the ability to represent the company with customers and partners
- Self-starter who can independently scope and execute projects, create documentation, and implement systems
- Comfortable working part-time/fractionally (approximately 10–25 hours/week) with the potential to scale or convert to a fuller engagement
- Preference for California/Pacific Time alignment; remote candidates in compatible time zones will be considered
- Background in tech companies is preferred; AI domain experience is helpful but not required, and familiarity with fundraising operations is a plus
