Fractional Sales & Business Development Leader
Job Description
Overview
A small AI and data consultancy is hiring a senior fractional Sales / Business Development leader to quickly build and execute a US go-to-market motion. This role is critical to accelerate US client acquisition (targeting manufacturing and other enterprise verticals), establish a repeatable pipeline, and convert initial US customers to enable scale. Target commitment is around 8–12 hours/week; engagement expected to start soon.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end US prospecting and revenue generation: identify, outreach, qualify, nurture, and close US clients for AI, data engineering, and cloud data platform services.
- Build the initial sales playbook and GTM strategy for the US market (ideal customer profile, messaging, channel approach, pricing guidance).
- Set up and operationalize a CRM and pipeline (selection/configuration of popular CRM platforms), including sales stages, automation, and reporting.
- Design and run outbound sequences (email, professional networks, targeted outreach), and coordinate account-based campaigns.
- Produce a rapid proof-of-concept or pilot opportunity within a 1–2 month horizon and convert it into a repeatable sales motion.
- Work closely with the founders and delivery leads (technical and AI) to scope opportunities, craft proposals, and transition won deals to delivery.
- Implement KPI-driven tracking, a regular cadence, and pipeline reporting; train and enable internal stakeholders on the sales process.
- Provide guidance on fractional engagement setup, compensation mix, and commission structure for deals sourced/closed.
- Recommend and help onboard sales tools and automation to increase lead velocity and conversion.
Qualifications
- Senior sales/BD experience (enterprise or SMB) selling AI/ML, data engineering, or cloud data platform services to US customers.
- Proven track record of generating and closing initial customers for small technology consultancies or services teams and building repeatable pipelines.
- Experience operating as a fractional or part-time sales leader or in a high-autonomy, remote engagement model.
- Hands-on CRM experience: selection, configuration, pipeline design, automation, and reporting on popular CRM platforms.
- Demonstrated success with outbound prospecting channels (email sequences, professional networks, cold outreach) and account-based approaches.
- Strong communication and cross-cultural collaboration skills to work with a distributed delivery team; comfortable with asynchronous workflows and limited weekly hours (around 8–12 hours/week).
- Established US market network or contact base in target verticals (manufacturing preferred); healthcare experience is a plus.
- Results-oriented, able to deliver a rapid POC in a 1–2 month window and convert early-stage opportunities into repeatable workflows.
