Job Description

The company is a growing logistics operator with locations in Arizona. We are seeking a fractional Systems & Operations Automation Specialist to lead strategy and hands-on execution to automate HR, payroll and recruiting workflows, build integrations and reporting, and free up the chief administrative officer to focus on financing and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own strategy and execution for systems automation across HR, payroll, benefits and recruiting.
  • Build, test and maintain integrations between payroll, HRIS, ATS and recruiting platforms and other vendor systems.
  • Design and implement a payroll report and automation to calculate and post bonus payouts to timecards accurately.
  • Automate applicant intake flow from intake systems into the applicant tracking system to reduce manual outreach and data entry.
  • Standardize and scale recruiting, onboarding and payroll processes across multiple locations and business entities.
  • Develop reliable reporting for payroll, benefits and bonus calculations to minimize manual intervention.
  • Create documentation, runbooks and a 30/60/90 plan for handoff and ongoing operations to support upcoming financing or refinancing needs.
  • Monitor integrations, troubleshoot issues, and iterate on automation for reliability and compliance.
  • Train staff and provide ongoing support to the CAO and operational teams on new workflows and tools.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience implementing HR/payroll/benefits automations and integrations with common payroll and HRIS platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with applicant tracking and recruiting intake systems (experience with major ATS and intake systems a plus).
  • Technical skills to build custom reports and automation flows (examples: automation/orchestration tools, scripting, APIs, ETL); familiarity with AI/automation assistants is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of payroll logic, bonus calculation and posting workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead both strategy and execution; deliver and communicate a 30/60/90 plan.
  • Prior operational experience or familiarity with logistics and parcel/middle-mile operations preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving, documentation and communication skills; comfortable working with a small executive team and distributed staff.
  • Ability to work fractionally/remotely with flexible hours and meet agreed monthly retainer or hours commitments.
