Job Description
The organization is rescuing a stalled redesign of its consumer-facing web and mobile products. We need a Product Manager who can bring structure and discipline to a team that currently lacks both — define priorities, set deadlines, and hold the team accountable. The emphasis is on operational rigor: impose structure, drive decisions, and keep the team moving forward day to day.
Type: Contract (3–6 months, potential to convert to full-time / contract-to-hire)
Location: Remote (must be based in, or reliably available during, Eastern Time hours)
Start: Soon
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of the redesign — set timelines, define milestones, and ensure accountability.
- Drive strategy and prioritization — clarify what the team works on next and why; replace self-selection with a sequenced, defensible plan.
- Ensure stakeholder alignment — preserve design intent through implementation across design, engineering, and leadership.
- Translate finalized designs into clear, sequenced tickets in the issue tracker with acceptance criteria for engineering.
- Unblock the team — surface tradeoffs, make calls, and escalate when needed.
- Manage scope — know when to push back on changes versus when to accommodate them.
- Run day-to-day project management — not just plan, but actively run the cadence: standups, deadlines, follow-through.
Qualifications
- Available during Eastern Time hours.
- Consumer tech background — experience managing delivery of high-traffic, user-facing products.
- Strong execution instincts — you thrive in the build phase, not just strategy and discovery.
- Comfortable driving alignment across design and engineering without direct authority.
- At ease in a lean, fast-moving environment with minimal overhead.
- Track record of bringing structure to teams without it — setting and enforcing deadlines, sequencing work, and holding people accountable.
- Nice to have: experience with modern issue trackers and project tracking tools.
- Nice to have: background in travel or marketplace products.
- Nice to have: prior experience rescuing a stalled or off-track redesign or replatform.
