Fractional Chief Financial Officer

TAINA TechnologyPosted Aug 3, 2026

Job Description

Role Description

This is a permanent, ongoing Fractional Chief Financial Officer position, providing strategic financial leadership to TAINA on a part-time basis with fully flexible remote working.

The role is ideal for an experienced CFO who enjoys partnering closely with founders and executive teams, helping high-growth technology businesses scale while maintaining financial discipline, strong governance and effective financial controls.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Board, investors and senior leadership team, the Fractional CFO will be responsible for TAINA's financial strategy, planning, reporting, forecasting and financial governance, whilst acting as a trusted adviser on business performance, growth initiatives and financial decision-making.

This is an ongoing appointment rather than an interim assignment and is intended to provide long-term strategic financial support to the business on a fractional basis.

The role does not have direct responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of business operations. Whilst the successful candidate will contribute to discussions relating to governance, risk, commercial decision-making and organisational growth, ownership of operational performance and business functions sits outside the remit of this position.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the company's financial strategy, planning and long-term financial management.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts and scenario planning to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provide financial leadership to the CEO, Board and senior leadership team.
  • Support company growth initiatives through robust financial analysis and commercial evaluation.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
  • Monitor business performance against financial objectives and key metrics.

Financial Reporting & Board Support

  • Oversee preparation and review of monthly management accounts and financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting.
  • Prepare Board reporting packs and executive financial analysis.
  • Present financial information and recommendations to the Board, investors and executive leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards, including UK GAAP and IFRS where applicable.

Cashflow, Funding & Capital Management

  • Manage cashflow forecasting and runway planning.
  • Support capital allocation and investment decisions.
  • Advise on funding strategies and future fundraising activity where appropriate.
  • Maintain strong relationships with investors, lenders and external stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic guidance on capital efficiency and growth planning.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Support the business in strengthening financial governance and internal controls.
  • Contribute to enterprise risk management and operational risk discussions.
  • Support oversight of regulatory, tax and financial compliance obligations.
  • Provide executive input into governance frameworks, audit readiness and compliance activities.
  • Work alongside leadership to ensure financial considerations are incorporated into information security, data governance and AI governance initiatives.

Commercial & Operational Support

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team on strategic business decisions.
  • Provide financial input into pricing models, commercial agreements and business cases.
  • Support vendor, supplier and contractual reviews where financial or commercial assessment is required.
  • Assist leadership with financial due diligence requirements arising from customer onboarding, procurement and investor activity.
  • Support R&D tax relief processes and other available innovation incentives.

Team Leadership

  • Provide strategic oversight to the existing bookkeeping and finance support team.
  • Ensure scalable financial processes and controls are in place as the business grows.
  • Support organisational planning and resource allocation discussions from a financial perspective.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced CFO who combines strong financial expertise with commercial acumen, strategic thinking and a practical, hands-on approach.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting founder-led, venture-backed technology companies and will be comfortable acting as a trusted adviser to both the CEO and Board.

Whilst the primary focus of the role is finance, the successful candidate will be comfortable contributing to broader discussions relating to governance, risk management, commercial strategy and organisational growth. However, this is fundamentally a finance leadership role rather than an operational leadership position.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience as CFO, Fractional CFO or Finance Director within a venture-backed technology business.
  • Experience working within SaaS, RegTech, FinTech or AI-driven technology organisations is highly desirable.
  • Strong expertise in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and scenario modelling.
  • Demonstrated experience managing investor reporting and Board-level relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, UK GAAP, IFRS and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience overseeing cashflow management, funding strategies and capital planning.
  • Familiarity with governance, compliance, risk management and scaling high-growth businesses.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
