Fractional Senior Accountant

PART-TIME SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Responsibilities:

• Maintain full-cycle accounting in QuickBooks (all modules: GL, AP, AR, payroll coordination, fixed assets)
• Hands-on responsibility for the monthly accounting close including preparing and reviewing journal entries, analyzing, and explaining fluctuations and variances
• Ensure strict compliance with US GAAP across all financial reporting and accounting practices
• Prepare and/or review of general ledger postings and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
• Prepare monthly financial statements, in accordance with US GAAP, for distribution to management and investors
• Assist with external service providers engaged to prepare the annual tax provision and tax returns
• Support the annual audit process (including audit planning, preparation, support, close-out and ongoing improvements)
• Maintain and enforce chart of accounts structure and accounting policies
• Manage accounts payable and receivable oversight (entry, aging, collections tracking)
• Track and reconcile prepaids, accruals, and deferred revenue
• Support budget vs. actual analysis and variance reporting
• Ensure proper internal controls and audit-ready documentation
• Manage the sale and use tax process
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights to support decision-making

Requirements:

• CPA or equivalent experience (10+ years preferred)
• Strong understanding of technical accounting issues and experience with QuickBooks
• Excellent knowledge of US GAAP compliance, internal controls and accrual accounting
• Prior experience with managing a month-end close and reporting process
• Small company and product company experience strongly preferred; Comfortable in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment; Ability to be flexible and agile as business needs and goals shift
• Ability to work independently in a part-time / fractional capacity
