Senior Analyst, Expense Operations (9-month contract)

The Role

As Senior Analyst, Expense Operations, you will support the oversight of CPP Investments' centralized global expense processing, helping ensure expenses and payments are processed accurately and on time within a robust control environment.

You will support daily expense and cash management activities, general ledger accounting and the monthly financial close, while collaborating with Expense Operations colleagues, teams across the organization and external stakeholders. This is a contract role through June 30, 2027.

The Team

Corporate Services is part of CPP Investments' Technology and Operations department. Within Corporate Services, the Expense Operations team is responsible for expense processing, cash management and expense-related accounting activities across CPP Investments' global offices.

Accountabilities

  • Support centralized global expense processing in accordance with policies and procedures, including vendor master records, vendor invoices and general ledger entries.
  • Manage payment and cash management activities for global offices, including payment processing in accordance with local requirements, bank account and authority updates, cash forecasting and excess cash coordination.
  • Support general ledger accounting and financial close activities, including Accounts Payable subledger close, variance analysis, journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, adjustments, general ledger reconciliations and bank reconciliations.
  • Coordinate with third-party accounting service providers to help ensure accurate accounting records for outsourced global offices.
  • Contribute to the organization-wide Source-to-Pay project and support annual audit inquiries and data collection.
  • Maintain risk and control metrics and standard operating procedures, and promote understanding of Accounts Payable policies, systems and procedures, including through training materials.
  • Partner with Finance and other stakeholders to resolve cross-functional issues, identify opportunities to streamline processes and recommend solutions that consider business needs, governance and controls.

What You Bring

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent; a professional accounting designation is preferred.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills, with an aptitude and interest in learning new software applications.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials and three-way matching invoice processing is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess multiple factors and recommend practical solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills for collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong time management and adaptability, with a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to deliver in a high-performing, evolving environment.
