AI Product Manager (Contractor)
Position Details:
- Information Technology | Remote in South San Francisco, CA | Contract
- Compensation: $90.00 to $100.00 per hour
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and advise on the enterprise AI product roadmap, working across business functions to identify, prioritize, and deliver AI use cases that align with the company's strategic objectives
- Evaluate and recommend AI vendor platforms and tools (e.g., large language models, generative AI, ML operations platforms), leading proof-of-concept engagements and building the business case for adoption
- Partner with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and external vendors to define AI product requirements, success criteria, and rollout plans
- Partner with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams to support review of AI tools and platforms against applicable security, access, and operational standards prior to deployment
- Lead AI adoption initiatives across functions—facilitating change management, user enablement, and governance frameworks to ensure responsible and compliant AI use
- Establish and maintain an AI governance framework, in partnership with relevant functions, including risk assessment, usage guidance, and compliance considerations for AI tools used in regulated contexts
- Collaborate with the Corporate systems teams to ensure AI initiatives are grounded in high-quality, well-governed data assets
- Serve as the primary IT liaison to R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, and Training teams on AI opportunities, tracking emerging tools and assessing applicability to Allogene's pipeline and operations
- Develop and deliver training and enablement programs to build AI literacy across the organization, equipping end users and functional leaders to adopt approved AI tools safely and effectively
- Develop and maintain an AI use case registry, tracking initiative status, ROI metrics, and lessons learned
- Present AI program updates, roadmap progress, and key recommendations to leadership
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, or related field (or relevant experience); advanced degree preferred; 8+ years of experience in product management, enterprise technology, or related role in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required
- Demonstrated experience managing AI/ML or GenAI product initiatives, including vendor evaluation, tool deployment, and stakeholder alignment in a complex organization
- Strong understanding of large language model (LLM) platforms and generative AI technologies, with hands-on experience evaluating or deploying leading enterprise AI solutions
- Working knowledge of GxP-adjacent environments and the compliance considerations relevant to AI use in clinical, regulatory, or quality contexts
- Experience working in or with biotech/pharma organizations; familiarity with key life sciences and enterprise platforms is a plus
- Ability to bridge technical and business conversations—translating AI capabilities into business outcomes and communicating tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, navigate ambiguity, and build alignment across cross-functional teams
- Completion of formal AI/ML training, certification, or equivalent professional development (e.g., cloud provider AI certifications, recognized GenAI or responsible AI programs) is a plus
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, and security/compliance considerations relevant to enterprise AI (e.g., GDPR, HIPPA) is a plus
Compensation: The expected hourly range for this role is $90 to $100 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
