Role Overview
-------------

We're seeking a candidate experienced in NFP accounting, who wants to engage, participate, and understand what we're doing and prepare the GAAP and management basis financials in a collegial manner. It's more than a transaction, but a partnership in the sustainability of the organization.

Responsibilities
----------------

Beyond the monthly GAAP financials, the role is responsible for maintaining all financial records including but not limited to:

*   Accounts Receivable
*   Grants Receivable
*   Accounts Payable
*   Cash Receipts
*   Cash Disbursements
*   Record restrictions and release from restrictions
*   Record Payroll
*   Bank and Investment reconciliations

Communications & Meetings
-------------------------

*   Weekly 30-45 minute video calls to review current activities, transactions, and upcoming operational items to provide context of what will pass through the books
*   Monthly video calls with Operations/Finance Board committee (chaired by Treasurer) where the accountant provides financial summary review and management basis documents
*   Daily emails with questions or approval on invoices, etc.

Our long-time accountant is retiring after 26+ years of service and stewardship to our organization.
  
  
I'll endeavor to provide an overview of the organization as it pertains to the role, what we seek, etc.
  
  

- We operate on a calendar year fiscal year; 1/1 to 12/31.
- We have the Platinum level, on Candid, for transparency and compliance.
- We partner with KSM for our 990 tax reporting, fall interim (virtual) audit, and March field work audit.
- We utilize Sage 50.

**Communications/meetings**

- Weekly, we hold a 30-45 minute video call to review current activities, transactions, and upcoming operational items to provide context of what will pass through the books.
- Monthly, we hold a video call with our Operations/Finance Board committee, which is chaired by our Treasurer. At this meeting, the accountant provides a financial summary review. We also have a couple of management basis documents based on the GAAP financials, but are geared from an operations perspective.
- Emails are daily with questions or approval on invoices, etc.

- Our largest grant, 500K, is from Lilly Endowment, while our largest contract is with Lilly Pharmaceutical.
- The annual budget sits at 1.9M with two investment portfolios. One is 2.2M (reserve fund) and the other is 8M. We have investment and spending policies for each and are overseen by the committee.
