Fractional Product Leader
Federal Cybersecurity Services CompanyPosted Sep 25, 2026
Job Description
A U.S.-based cybersecurity services firm serving government customers seeks a fractional Product Leader (player-coach) to turn internal engineering and GRC concepts into market-ready managed-service offerings. This is a part-time, hands-on engagement of roughly 8–15 hours per week. The role provides senior product and technical leadership to mature offerings, sharpen go-to-market messaging, and deliver turnkey solutions for government customers without a full-time hire.
Responsibilities
- Lead productization of an AI-driven GRC engineering platform initially, then extend to privileged access and AI-driven gap/forensic tooling.
- Define product vision, roadmap, and MVPs aligned to government customer needs, packaged as managed services rather than software the customer deploys.
- Act as a player-coach: do hands-on work (wireframes, prototypes, technical validation) while mentoring internal engineers.
- Work with engineering, R&D, and service delivery to turn concepts into documented features, user journeys, and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize features and build iterative release plans that move concepts from R&D to client-ready offerings.
- Develop go-to-market positioning, messaging, demo scripts, and sales enablement materials for government buyers and prime partners.
- Validate designs with prospective and existing government clients and fold their feedback into iterations.
- Ensure designs account for common federal security and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF, STIGs) and operational constraints.
- Support pricing and engagement models suited to a services-driven government contractor, including fixed-price and outcome-based approaches.
Qualifications
- Proven product leadership in cybersecurity products or in productizing technical services, with a player-coach mindset.
- Hands-on experience with AI/LLM applications, such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent workflows, and model evaluation.
- Direct experience with cybersecurity concepts and tooling (SIEM, EDR, privileged access management, GRC frameworks). Familiarity with common federal security frameworks preferred.
- Practical experience with government customers, including contracting context and procurement sensitivities.
- A track record of moving products from zero to one quickly and building compelling demos and go-to-market collateral.
- Strong technical fluency with cloud platforms and architectures.
- Excellent communicator who can present a market story to technical and procurement audiences.
- Must be U.S.-based.
What success looks like (first few months)
- A demo-ready MVP of the GRC engineering offering.
- Clear GTM positioning and a repeatable demo script.
- A prioritized roadmap for the next two offerings.
About the Company
- A services firm focused on cybersecurity for U.S. government and public-sector customers.
- The organization is productizing internal technical capabilities into managed-service offerings to deliver turnkey security solutions to government buyers.
