Fractional Chief Product Officer

A software organization is rebuilding a business operations platform and seeks a Fractional Chief Product Officer (CPO) to lead product strategy and delivery. The product leader will work with the delivery team and senior stakeholders to guide the rebuild from strategy through implementation-ready requirements. This is a hybrid, part-time engagement in New York State for approximately 6–9 months, with regular onsite collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own product priorities, roadmap, and success criteria for the platform rebuild.
• Translate strategic goals into implementation-ready requirements and clear acceptance criteria.
• Lead product reviews and align expectations across senior stakeholders and the delivery team.
• Integrate into the delivery process to ensure product and engineering alignment.
• Drive AI-informed product decisions and consider AI capabilities in feature design and prioritization.
• Provide stakeholder communication and decision support.
• Support onboarding and ramp-up of the delivery team, including increased onsite presence during the initial phase.
• Deliver regular progress updates and participate in acceptance and demonstration cycles.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CPO or senior product leader, preferably in a fractional or consulting capacity.
• Demonstrable experience with business operations software or closely related products.
• Familiarity with AI best practices, tools, and applied product design, including language models, retrieval approaches, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Strong track record translating product strategy into actionable, implementation-ready requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills, including senior-level engagement and engineering alignment.
• Based in New York State and able to work onsite several days per week.
• Availability for a part-time commitment over an approximately 6–9 month engagement.
• Comfortable working with a delivery partner and coordinating with an external technology leader.
