Starling Bank

Senior Business Analyst

Starling BankPosted Mar 19, 2026

Job Description

Role

Who you are

  • You thrive on variety and stay calm when things get blurry
  • You're self-motivated, take full ownership of your work, and are always looking for the next way to add value
  • You're just as happy defining a long-term strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves to fix a messy spreadsheet or help a teammate get a project over the line
  • You build genuine partnerships and know how to tell a story that brings people along with you
  • You're excited to be part of a growing team where you can help us design our Business Analysis toolkit
  • You have solid experience as a Business Analyst, and if you've navigated the fast-moving world of Financial Services, even better
  • You're an expert at gathering technical requirements and translating them into clear "classic" or "journey" formats. You know how to map out a new function from a blank page
  • You can visualise exactly how things work today (as-is) and how they should work tomorrow (to-be), whether those processes are automated by code or handled by people
  • You have a sharp eye for the small stuff and aren't fazed by tight deadlines. You're a natural partner to Project Managers, keeping things on track when the pressure is on
  • You don't just look at numbers; you interrogate them to find the "why" and help us make the right strategic moves
  • We're a growing team, so you're happy to stretch beyond the BA label. If a project needs a bit of Project Management magic to get over the line, you're ready to step in

What the job involves

  • Reporting to: Chief of Staff to the COO
  • This is a unique opportunity for a versatile and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a growing Enterprise Change team at the heart of Starling
  • Rather than being stuck in one department, you'll be our "internal consultant," jumping into the bank's strategic and high-impact projects as they happen. Beyond delivering project value you'll be helping us shape and build our Business Analysis capability helping us define "what good looks like" as we scale. This will be a 9-12 month Fixed Term Contract
  • Partner with teams across the bank to figure out what they really need, then translate those needs into clear, actionable requirements
  • Lead workshops and interviews with stakeholders at all levels to gather and refine requirements
  • Turn complex ideas into simple, high-quality process maps, user stories, and documents that everyone can follow
  • Dive into the data to find the insights we need to make smart, informed decisions
  • Ensure all risk and regulatory considerations are baked into the solution from day one
  • Act as the link between our technical and non-technical teams to make sure the solutions we build actually solve the problem
  • Use a "systems thinking" mindset to understand how a small change in one place might ripple across the whole bank
  • Develop genuine, trusted relationships with stakeholders at every level of the business
  • Help us build our internal Business Analysis toolkit by sharing best practices and helping the team grow
  • Stay flexible and support project management whenever it's needed to get the best results for our customers

Work Arrangement: 1-5 days a week in office, London

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (9-12 months)

About the Company

Company mission

To solve our customer's problems - and build the best bank in the world.

Starling is a mobile-first bank offering personal, joint and business accounts. The company started focused on consumer banking but has found significant success competing in the business banking space. Starling has built a full suite of digital banking products including intelligent forecasting tools, digitally-enabled relationship management functions, and lending products. The company has achieved profitability and continues to expand in the UK and Europe, with an international bank launching in Dublin.

Banking for small businesses has historically been ignored, even though the experience is poor. Starling is in tune with knowing what its customers want, and continues to build out its range of third-party products within its banking app thanks to support from its open API. The company currently has 26 integrations, including Xero, and that figure continues to grow.

Company Benefits:

  • Time off: 25 days holiday, plus your birthday as an extra freebie. You can also opt out of bank holidays and take them when works for you
  • Health insurance: Private health insurance with Vitality Health, one of the UK's leading private medical insurers
  • Pension scheme
  • Paid volunteering leave: Up to 16 hours paid leave a year to help causes meaningful to you
  • Gym & cycle to work schemes: Discounted gym memberships and cycle to work schemes through salary sacrifice
  • Perkbox: Wide range of retail, entertainment and leisure discounts and cash back at a huge variety of businesses
